Hi, I live in Port Townsend, but I get to Seattle every couple weeks. I used to live in Seattle years ago. Recently I've been trying different asian restaurants. In Port Townsend we've got a small but quite good food co-op with good produce. There are also a few small organic produce farms in the area that sell at our farmer's market, and just had a cheesemaker open up.

    Hello Seattle Foodies!

While I no longer live in Seattle (as of two years ago), I wanted to join you to share some Pacific Northwest inspired recipes with one another - find some new things for me to try. When I make these dishes for locals, they rave about it!

I live right across the water from Seattle... We do go to Pike Place to sell Chanterelles and that' s about the only time I'm in Seattle. I wish we had specialty shops, I'm lucky enough that my husband lives to fish, so we get plenty of salmon each year. But it would be fun to explore around each shop. I do live right next to a very neat Oriental Shop, which is where I get most of my Japanese ingredients/ cooking equipment.

My favorite thing about living around here is all the free food that is around! Oysters, Blackberries, Salmon, Crabs, Chanterelles etc. How lucky we are? so many people don't even realize or take advantage of this fact.

Anyway my name is Marie and I really just love to learn about new foods and cook and shop for food.

Great idea! I couldn't be happier. Really!!! I'd woo woo but to much enthusiasm can sometimes scare people. Umm, lets see. I live in Port Orchard and work in Seattle. I am a commercial electrician, yep. . . that's right, I kick butt at work and come home and cook. I love most everything about our state and Seattle is my favorite place in the NW to visit because what can you *not* find? Hello, we have seafood, fresh vegies, sushi and the stuff to make sushi with, ethinicity in every direction that allows us to get just about anything for any type of recipe and, oh yea, the Pike's Place Market. Definitely Uwajimayas. hhhmmm, restaurants of all types like the Salmon Bay Cafe in the Ballard area for an awesome breakfast that is next to impossible to finish, and on and on. Okay, I'll cut this short. . . great idea :D

I'm Allison from Seattle. Have lived here for 10 years, but grew up in South Florida. I love it up here in the NW and definitely am enjoying the food! It's a beautiful place to live, and I agree with Marie - there's free and wonderful food all around us. This year, I've been growing some of my own and have had some success with chile peppers. They'll stay outside for a couple more weeks and then they'll winter indoors. Looking forward to sharing recipes with all of you!

I just found this group by accident. My name is Donna. I live in West Everett, closer to Mukilteo. We look across bay at Mt. Baker. Love it here, and have lived in this area since 1969. My husband and I both grew up in Mukilteo (when it was tiny) and lived for 3 yrs up north in Burlington after we married, and 5 years in Mount Vernon. But eventually migrated back down to Muk. Been here 10 years now and are not going anywhere! Love Seattle. We used to go all the time years back - our fav restaurants are El Gaucho, The Met (Metropolitan Grill) Union Sq. Grill (no longer there) Wild Ginger, so many good restaurants! We don't make it down much anymore.... traffic is atrocious anymore. Everyone thinks it rains ALL the time, and let them keep thinking that (keep the population down) It's absolutely beautiful today and WHEN it is clear, we have the most gorgeous skies in the US!

I have belonged to the group since my beginning here on GR a little over 8 months ago. We live in Kenmore, north end of Lake Washington for the last 16 years. Have lived in the Seattle area 3 times in my life and not moving anywhere anymore!
Like Donna above, love Seattle and the great restaurants but don't make it downtown as much as we once did - hate the traffic also. Pike Place market if a favorite of mine to investigate all the wonderful foods and look at all the people. People watching is a favorite of mine!
With my Cajun roots, seafood and spicy foods are a passion of mine. I could live on it 7 nights a week. Love to see how Tom Douglas, Todd English, Kathy Casey and a multitude of others prepare seafood dishes.
To me, there is no other place to live than the Pacific Northwest!

I was born in Seattle and still visit as often as possible. I love everything about it.
    Now am a West Virginian.
There is no place like Seattle!
The variety of ethnic groups in the Seattle area is great for good restaurants. I would love to get recipes from some of them.
Would love to correspond with recipe fans from the Seattle/ Edmonds area.
