Southern Soup

- 1 1/2 cup dry black-eyed peas shopping list
- 2 to 3 cups finely diced, cooked ham shopping list
- 1 (15 oz) can whole kernel corn shopping list
- 1 (10 oz) package frozen cut okra, thawed shopping list
- 1 onion, chopped shopping list
- 2 teaspoons cajun seasoning shopping list
- 1 large potato shopping list
- 1 (14 oz) can chicken broth shopping list
- 2 (15 oz) cans Mexican stewed tomatoes shopping list
- 7 cups water shopping list
- salt shopping list
- pepper shopping list
How to make it
- Rinse peas and drain. Combine peas and 5 cups water in large saucepan.
- Bring to boil, reduce heat, simmer about 10 minutes and drain.
- Combine peas, ham, corn, okra, onion, potato, seasoning, broth in 5 to 6-quart slow cooker.
- Add 2 cups water and stir.
- Cover and cook on Low for 5-6 hours. Add stewed tomatoes and continue cooking for 1 more hour.
