Ingredients
  • 1 c. water
  • 2-3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/4 - 1/2 tsp. Ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg, fresh grated is the best
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 14oz can Condensed Milk*
  • 1 12oz can Evaporated milk*
  • 1 15oz can Cream of Coconut*
  • 1 15oz can Coconut Milk, optional*
  • 1 fifth of GOOD Light Rum of your choice – I do not suggest using a dark Rum, as it will change the colour and not be very pretty
  • Old wine and/or liquor bottles that have been thoroughly cleaned, rinsed and dried. Can also use pretty clear bottles that you have decorated to give this made up recipe as gifts over the Holidays. The bottles with the metal bails and rubber stoppers are a nice idea to use as well for gifting to someone. And don’t forget to Gift one to yourself.
  • * Wherever in the world that you live the sizes of these cans might differ a bit by an ounce or so either way. It really does not matter, as this is not a baked recipe, just liquids added together to create a Wonderful tasting Drink. So do not fret if the ounces are a bit different, it will still work. Trust me.

Directions
  1. Put the water and spices into a pan and gently boil for a few minutes.
  2. Remove the cinnamon sticks and let the liquid cool while you are opening the cans.
  3. Put the water mix into a large bowl.
  4. Add all the cans of milk, egg yolks and stir up really well.
  5. Add the Rum and taste :-)
  6. Might want to taste it again to be sure it tastes good.
  7. You can add a bit more ground nutmeg, ground cloves or ground cinnamon to your taste.
  8. Pour into the bottles that you have ready and cap them off well, and put in the refrigerator.

Pheeeew..Now if that doesn't put hairs on your chest I dont know what will!! I think Christmas might be a bit to far away to let this keep..
Nice one dee..
Bonzai..:-))

Oh my, does that sound delish. I'm one of those people that can't wait for egg nog to appear on the shelves in the fall. Your recipe sounds equally mouth-watering, if not better - love the coconut milk in it. This will be a MUST TRY! Thanks, dee -

This sounds like something to warm your innards on a cold winter night! ;)

Mmmm.. this sounds interesting! I have never had Egg Nog, but I have had a drink called Egg Flip, its a thick yellow drink with a warming feeling to it.
this sounds very simlar.
I must try this! thanks.

I'm going to try this before the holidays and take it to the dungeon where I work...i have some light color Havana Club Rum to use ..

I have a couple of coquito recipes that I make for Christmas. This one is very similar. I just dearly love this stuff. My boss is Latino and when we were all working in the office, he would let me sneak it in to work in a gallon milk jug. LOL! We all work from home now, so that little "tradition" ended.

I made a similar recipe on Xmas. So good!
