Chef Albys Split Pea Soup

- 2- 1 pound packages of green split peas.... shopping list
- 4 chicken bouillon cubes. shopping list
- 2 packets of Sazon-without annatto. (this can be found in the Goya Hispanic foods section) shopping list
- 2 small onions chopped well. shopping list
- 2 cloves of minced garlic. shopping list
- 2 medium carrots diced. shopping list
- sea salt & black pepper-only fresh ground, to taste. shopping list
- 12 cups of water. shopping list
- NOTE: You can also add some smoked ham or turkey to enhance the flavor. shopping list
- Some people add cream or milk, however since I am lactose intolerant I skip that part. shopping list
- Soak the split peas in a pot of water over night, drain and rinse peas. shopping list
- In a large soup pot combine all ingredients and bring to a boil. Lower heat and let simmer until peas are tender. If necessary add more water sparingly. shopping list
- Stir often. shopping list
- If you like your pea soup really creamy you can carefully put it through a blender. Careful when doing this as the soup is hot. shopping list
- Top with croutons if desired. shopping list

How to make it

Sounds delis, as I LOVE split pea soup, especially home-made!!!

Just a suggestion for you :: if you're lactose-intolerant, try adding lactaid to the soup slowly to give it the creaminess.
