How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar
- Add the egg yolks and stir. Add melted chocolate and stir. Add raisins and stir. Add cinnamon, ground cloves and flour and stir. Stir in the jam and walnuts.
- Beat the egg whites until stiff.
- Add baking powder to the buttermilk and quickly stir it into the cake mixture.
- Fold in the stiff egg whites.
- Quickly pour the mixture into the greased and floured angel food-cake pan. Bake 35-45 minutes.
- Peanut Butter Frosting:
- Combine and cream butter, sugar and peanut butter.
- Add milk and stir well. Keep stirring as you mix in nuts.
- Spread over warm cake.
- Place frosted cake under broiler, about 4- 5-inches from the heat source. Leave it there until topping bubbles and browns lightly. It will happen quickly, so watch closely to prevent scorching.
- Let cake cool at least 30 minutes before serving it.
- Lemon Sauce:
- Boil all ingredients until clean and serve warm over cake.
- Chocolate Fudge Frosting:
- In a heavy saucepan, over low heat, stir all of the ingredients except vanilla extract. When the chocolate melts, bring it to a rolling boil while constantly stirring. Then boil for 1 minute.
- Remove from heat and beat until it's lukewarm. Stir in vanilla extract and continue stirring, until it reaches desired consistency.
