Blue Cheese And Shallot Bread

- Ingredients: shopping list
- ½ cup chopped shallots shopping list
- 3 Tbs. margarine shopping list
- 2 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1 Tbs. sugar or sugar substitute shopping list
- 2 ½ tsp. baking powder shopping list
- 1 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1 tsp. ground mustard shopping list
- ¼ cup cold margarine shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1 cup milk shopping list
- ¾ cup crumbled blue cheese shopping list
- 2 Tbs. Grated Parmesan cheese: reduced-fat shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven at 325.
- In a small skillet, saute shallots in margarine until tender; set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and mustard. Cut in margarine until mixture resembles crumbs. In a small bowl, whisk egg and milk. Stir into crumb mixture just until moistened. Fold in cheeses and shallot mixture.
- Transfer to a greased 8-inch x 4-inch loaf pan. Bake at 325 for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to wire rack. Yield: 1 loaf ( 12 slices )
