Blueberry Scones With Blueberry Butter

- 1 13/4 cups flour shopping list
- 2t baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 cup dried blueberries shopping list
- 1/4 cup orange juice(fresh or not from concentrate) shopping list
- 1 T orange peel, grated shopping list
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, divided shopping list
- 1t fresh nutmeg, grated shopping list
- dash of salt shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter, chilled and cut up shopping list
- 3/4 cup buttermilk shopping list
- 1 egg white(optional) shopping list
- Blueberry butter shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter, softened shopping list
- 1/4 cup blueberry all fruit spread shopping list
- 1/4t nutmeg, grated shopping list
How to make it
- Soak blueberries in orange juice while preparing batter
- In medium glass bowl, combine flour, baking powder, half of the brown sugar, orange peel, nutmeg and salt.
- Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Drain, but don't rinse, and add blueberries.
- Add buttermilk, a little at a time, combining only until soft dough forms.(probably about 2/3 cup)
- Drop onto lightly floured surface and form round "loaf" about 1 inch thick.
- Cut into 8 triangles and place on backing stone, cast iron or parchment covered baking sheet.
- Whisk together egg white and remaining buttermilk.
- Sprinkle with remaining brown sugar.
- Bake at 400 for 12-15 minutes
- Meanwhile, combine butter ingredients until well blended. Serve with warm scones.
