This is NOT a FOOD RECIPE. It is a household cleaner that works great on grease and soap scum. Works on all surfaces, but when using on varnished surfaces, wipe it off immediately after applying. Please be careful with it and label it so that no one will ingest it. Read more REPEAT...this is NOT a FOOD recipe!! People are telling me that for some reason ammonia makes there male cats spray. I don't understand this as I have always had male cats and it has never made them spray. So any way use with caution. See less

- 1/2 c. vinegar
- 1/4 c. baking soda
- 1 c. household ammonia
go view your shopping list

Ingredients

4 qt. water shopping list
1/2 c. vinegar shopping list
1/4 c. baking soda shopping list
1 c. household ammonia shopping list

How to make it

Mix all ingredients together.
Put in a spray bottle that is marked cleaner on it.
Recipe may be halved.

Ammonia can be very dangerous and has been shown to trigger breathing disorders especially in children. Your more natural cleaners are a sure safer way to go though. Better than any of those bleach alternatives. I only use Melaleuca products in my home because I know they are safe, they save me money, and time. I just can't live without Melaleuca.

I used this a few days ago to clean my stove top after the hubby and kids made supper and believe me there was a huge mess. This got every bit of the grease and my stove top just shined.!!!

I have two altered male cats and they will spray if I use ammonia or bleach, but vinegar deters them. In fact, I use vinegar and water only to clean lots of things, in particular tiled floors, mirrors, windows. Vinegar and bicarbonate of soda in water does a good job in de-furring the coffee machine.

I have an intact male cat, If I use ammonia in the house he will spray everywhere.
I will recommend this to my friends though.

Just be careful with using ammonia as a cleaning product as it is toxic to breath. Wiping it off is a great idea since ammonia can seep in through your skin and create health problems.
