Ingredients

How to make it

  • 1. Mix all the ingredients, except the sake in a bowl large enough to hold the marinade and whatever you want to marinate, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.
  • 2. Make sure the critter you want to marinate is at room temp and rub or paint them with the sake, wait 5 minutes and do that again and a third time, now add the animal parts and sake to the marinade, making sure the marinade covers it completely. See Photo
  • 3. Cover and let stand at least 4 hours (fish filets can go for just 2 hours), stirring gently from time to time. You can put this in the fridge if you feel the need but with the soy sauce and sugar it isn’t necessary. See Photo
  • The usual way to cook teriyaki is BBQ, open grill or broil but anyway you like will work. We normally have this with rice and tofu with some Japanese style pickled veggies and maybe a slice or two of pineapple for a sweet and slightly sour combo flavor See Photo. A dry Chablis goes well.

I've been to Hawaii twice, but never found a sweet Hawaiian Japanese lady to share recipes with. How fortunate you were.

Oh...I see,you ply the poor unexpecting meal in sake, before you cook it up...Yep! That would work.

    Nice recipe.

    Thank-you

    Kind Regards
