Sweet Swedish Pecans

- 1 pound good quality, large pecans shopping list
- 2 stiffly beaten egg whites shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- dash of salt shopping list
- ½ cup butter shopping list
How to make it
- Spread pecans out on a large cookie sheet and toast them at 350 degrees until browned just a bit.
- Remove pan from oven and cool nuts completely.
- Reduce oven temperature to 325 degrees.
- Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- Slowly add sugar and salt, and beat just to blend.
- Add cooled nuts and stir gently until all are coated.
- Place butter on a heavy duty cookie sheet; put pan in oven until butter is completely melted.
- Remove pan from oven and spread coated nuts in the butter, keeping them in a single layer.
- Bake for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes, until nuts are covered with a light brown coating.
- Cool and store in covered container.
