Chewy Dark Chocolate Brownies
From keni 14 years agoIngredients
- 2 sticks butter shopping list
- 12 oz unsweetened chocolate squares, chopped shopping list
- 3 cups granulated sugar shopping list
- 3t vanilla shopping list
- 4 eggs shopping list
- 1/2t baking powder shopping list
- 2 cups flour shopping list
- 1/3 cup cocoa shopping list
- 1/2t salt shopping list
- 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts(optional) shopping list
- powdered sugar for dusting(optional) shopping list
How to make it
- Melt butter and chocolate squares in small pan over low heat, stirring frequently. DO NOT LET CHOCOLATE SCORCH
- Once melted, cool slightly and transfer to mixing bowl.
- Stir in sugar and vanilla until just mixed.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition
- Add flour, salt, baking powder and cocoa and stir only until just combined, about 1 minute. Do not over mix.
- Fold in nuts by hand, if using.
- Pour batter into prepared(greased/floured or parchment papered) jelly roll pan for about 20-25 minutes until top is uniform in color, sides JUST starting to pull away from the sides, and toothpick comes out ALMOST clean. DO NOT OVERBAKE.
- Let cool completely in pan.
- Dust with powdered sugar before cutting, if desired
- *some important notes about brownies: don't over mix, especially once the flour is added, and don't over bake. It can sometimes be tough to pull them out at just the right time, but it is probably the more crucial part of brownie baking...at least that I've found. :)
