The Best Baked Mac & Cheese Ever

- 4 tbsp (1/2 stick) unsalted butter shopping list
- 2 3/4 cups milk shopping list
- 1/4 cup flour shopping list
- 1/8 teas grated nutmeg shopping list
- 2 1/4 cups grated Sharp Cheddar shopping list
- 1 cup grated gruyere shopping list
- 8 oz elbow cooked (al dente) and cooled macaroni shopping list
- 3 slices white bread, torn into small pieces shopping list
- Salt & pepper to taste shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 375. Butter a 1 1/2 quart casserole.
- In a medium saucepan, heat 3 tbsp butter until melted, add flour and whisk for a minute. Add milk and cook while whisking until thickened. Add salt & pepper to taste. Add 3/4 cup Gruyere & 1 1/8 cups cheddar, whisk until smooth. Add cooked macaroni. Pour into buttered casserole, top with the remainder of the cheese..
- Melt remaining 1 tbsp butter, add breadcrumbs & toss. Top mac & cheese with bread crumbs. Bake approximately 30 minutes, or until brown on top. Cool for a few minutes & enjoy!
