Rainier Vanilla Sorbet
From keni 12 years agoIngredients
- 2 quarts Rainier cherries, pitted shopping list
- 2/3 cup unflavored sparkling water(tonic, club soda, all will work, just make sure there isn't sodium in it) shopping list
- 1 6 inch vanilla bean, split shopping list
How to make it
- Combine cherries, water, and vanilla bean(scrape out the vanilla inside, but also toss the whole bean in there, too!)
- Heat over low heat until cherries become soft enough to mash easily with fork. This took me about 12 minutes.
- Let cool slightly and remove the whole bean, then either transfer to a blender or use an immersion blender, to blend to your desired consistency. You can make it totally smooth or leave a few chunks of cherries, like I did!
- Refrigerate at least 4 hours, until it has lost any sign of warmth.
- Add to ice cream maker and follow manufacture's directions. Or, you can alternately use the "slushing method" of frozen dessert making, which you can google "how to make ice cream without a maker" :)!
- Freeze until desired firmness.
