Ingredients

How to make it

  • Combine cherries, water, and vanilla bean(scrape out the vanilla inside, but also toss the whole bean in there, too!)
  • Heat over low heat until cherries become soft enough to mash easily with fork. This took me about 12 minutes.
  • Let cool slightly and remove the whole bean, then either transfer to a blender or use an immersion blender, to blend to your desired consistency. You can make it totally smooth or leave a few chunks of cherries, like I did!
  • Refrigerate at least 4 hours, until it has lost any sign of warmth.
  • Add to ice cream maker and follow manufacture's directions. Or, you can alternately use the "slushing method" of frozen dessert making, which you can google "how to make ice cream without a maker" :)!
  • Freeze until desired firmness.

Not sure why mine turned out so red compared to yours but this was delicious regardless! I wasn't expecting to find these cherries but I did and they are delicious! Great first recipe to try out in the ice cream maker! My IMI review Rainier Vanilla Sorbet
