There is something to be said about homemade pesto. While in college this was the poor college student version of pesto ~ instead of basil, pine nuts, parmesan, olive oil, garlic.

Cilantro is easier (and cheaper) to find in Shanghai than Basil. I will definitely try it. Now we'll see if I can find cheap nuts. Walnut is no longer in season and blanched almonds can be quite expensive... What is the differnce between "non-salted almonds" and blanched ones?
