Ingredients
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/4 t. baking soda
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 c. sour cream
  • 6 eggs, separated and at room temperature

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 300.
  2. Beat the egg whites until stiff, but not dry. Reserve in a bowl and clean the mixer bowl.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar. Beat in the egg yolks. Sift the flour and soda together, and add alternately with the sour cream. Gently fold in the whites just until incorporated.
  4. Bake for 1 1/2 hours. Let cool on rack for 20 minutes before you unmold the cake.
