You can use golden raisins or cranberries or a mixture instead of raisins. This recipe can be used as a salad or even as dessert. The lemon is not just for taste but will keep the apples from turning brown when exposed to air. You can use whatever... More

This is almost like my Grandmother's Do you remember Ambrosia Salad?? She made that every single Easter. I have not been able to find that recipe among the many that she left me. Today I found three Red Velvet Cake Recipes and One Japanese Pie recipe!!

Hmmm... Pat's mom used to fix Ambrosia. Let me dig around a little and see if we still have it.

My mother made this when I was young but to tempt the picky eaters she would add some maraschino cherries and coconut. Almost Ambrosia-like.

Interesting note Teena. Ambrosia and Waldorf Salad are indeed kindred souls. Sweeties that are between a salad and a dessert. If you throw on the marshmallows mine is a dessert. Without them it is a salad. Introduced at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel decades ago. Of course I have no idea what the original recipe was. I'll have to research that... :]
