This recipe came from my grandmother she made it with love for us and passed down the recipe to my parents.

Ingredients
  • Ingredients:
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 Tablespoons Crisco shortening
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • Mixture for filling:
  • 2-1/2 cups chopped apples
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • Frosting:
  • 2 Tablespoons hot water
  • 1-1/2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions
  1. Sift flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Cut in shortening until mixture is the consistency of small peas.
  2. Add milk. Then roll out on well floured board to 1/2-inch thickness.
  3. Spread with filling mixture.
  4. Fold sides over and seal. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.
  5. Combine frosting ingredients. Spread it on pastry while hot.

Alterations


my mom cooks the apples first with the sugar and cinnamon and butter and a little bit of water for about 10 mins in a pots over a medium heat until the apples go slightly soft - makes the pie really yummy!
