How to make it

  • Brush both sides of mushrooms evenly with 3 tablespoons Italian dressing. Coat grill rack with cooking spray; place on grill over medium hot coals (350 to 400*). Place mushrooms on rack, grill, covered, 4 minutes on each side or until tender. Place cheese over mushrooms, and grill 1 additional minute to melt cheese.
  • Brush buns with remaining dressing; grill, covered, until lightly toasted. Place mushrooms over bottom of buns; top with roasted pepper pieces and tops of buns.
  • 281 calories, 31% from fat.

    Beautiful pic, Points! I always thought for some reason in portobello sandwiches the mushrooms WERE the buns. Never had one. Sounds good though. ;')

    Have to say it again. This is one great sandwich. Finally took the time to make a picture. My buns were a little on the small side.

    I had a sandwich like this one in a quaint little restaurant here in Michigan called "Sweet Lorraines." I don't know how it was made but this is close to what I tasted. It was so good and very filling. Thanks for sharing.

    If you want to go the extra mile, you can roast your own peppers either over hot coals or in the broiler oven. And maybe for that special touch, make your own buns. Chefjeb has a good bun recipe and there is another likely bun recipe in here that I haven't tried yet.
