Ingredients
  • Dressing:
  • 1 c Best Foods/Hellman's mayonnaise
  • ¼ c canned milk
  • 1 T white vinegar
  • ¼ c sugar
  • Salad:
  • 1 large Bunch of Broccoli, chopped in bite size pieces (including the stalk - peel/slice or shred)
  • 1 large pot of boiling water
  • 6 green onions (scallions) from the bunch, chop in bite size pieces
  • 2 c celery, chop in bite size pieces
  • 2 c red seedless grapes – remove stems and wash
  • 1 c raisins
  • ½ lb bacon, cooked/drained/choped in small pieces
  • 1 c chopped pecans

Directions
  1. Dressing:
  2. (Do not add to salad until you are ready to serve).
  3. Mix all ingredients until smooth. Cover and refrigerate.
  4. Salad:
  5. Place broccoli in a strainer; rinse.
  6. Pour water over broccoli in strainer, then immediately run cold water over it to stop the cooking process (drain well). This step helps with the smell that's in broccoli and gives it a nice green color.
  7. Add green onions, celery, and grapes.
  8. Place all ingredients in a large plastic bag and shake to toss well, then refrigerate until ready to serve (I place paper towels in the bottom of the bag to catch the any moisture).
  9. Just before serving add the raisins, bacon and pecans to the bag and toss.
  10. When ready to serve, place the veggie mixture in a large serving bowl.
  11. Pour dressing over all and toss.
  12. Serves: 8-10
  13. NOTE: Add dressing, raisins, bacon, nuts only to what will be eaten. Does not refrigerate well with dressing. The above will not keep their texture in moisture.

Well, this is the third recipe you've posted today that I've bookmarked - you are a walking cookbook!

Sounds interestingly yummy... is it sweet with all that sugar in the dressing? Just trying to imagine it all. I might have to try this one!

The vinegar tones down the sugar, so it's not too sweet...just delishous. Use less sugar, if you like and do a taste test.

I've made this twice for friends (it makes lots!) and had recipe requests each time. I didn't change a thing. It is a keeper!

Thanks for your comment. You'll also like the broccoli slaw.

I've had this salad before and LOVED it but have never had the recipe. I think that the one I had may have had cashews instead of pecans but either works well! Thanks so much for posting. I'll definitely bookmark this one and make it as soon as I get the opportunity.

Yumm. Sounds nice and crunchy:) Thanks.

Hi there! I love this salad! You are right, it's always a hit at potlucks! Jett
