Traditional Pa. Dutch recipe.From PA Dutch Cookbook handed down by the early settlers in PA of which my husband is of descent.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup flour (sifted )
  • 1 1/2 tsp.baking powder
  • 3 Tbsp confectioner's sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon( if desired)
  • 1/3 cup of milk
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 2 medium-size tart apples, thinly sliced

Directions
  1. Sift the dry ingredients into a bowl
  2. Stir the milk into the egg
  3. Add to dry ingredients
  4. Mix well
  5. Mix in the apples
  6. Drop batter by spoon-fuls into deep fat (oil) heated to 365 F
  7. Fry about 3 min; turn fritters during frying
  8. Drain on paper towels
  9. About 1 1/2 dozen
  10. I like to roll in sugar or powdered sugar or cinnamon & fine sugar
