Must Try Autumn Sausage Dinner Recipe
A lavish assortment of sausages, tender-crisp cabbage and apples with spicy mustard or horseradish. Hello cool weather!!!

Ingredients
  • 8 pork sausage links
  • 3 large Golden Delicious Apples, peeled, cored and each cut into 6 wedges
  • 1 pound kielbasa
  • 6 ounces miniature smoke-flavored sausage links
  • 4 knockwurst sausages, about 1/2 pound
  • 1-2 pound head of cabbage, cut into wedges
  • Prepared mustard
  • Horseradish

Directions
  1. Pour water into a wide frying pan to about 1/4-inch thick.
  2. Bring to a boil over high heat.
  3. Add pork sausage links, cover, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Drain and discard liquid.
  5. Continue cooking sausages, uncovered, over medium heat until partially browned.
  6. Add apple wedges and cook until apples are browned and fork-tender, about 5 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and keep warm.
  8. Fill an 8-quart kettle half-way with water.
  9. Bring to a boil over high heat.
  10. Add kielbasa, smoke-flavored sausages and knockwurst.
  11. cover and return to a boil.
  12. Add cabbage wedges, pushing them down into the liquid.
  13. Bring to a boil again and cook, uncovered, for 3-5 minutes.
  14. Lift out cabbage and sausages and drain well.
  15. Arrange cabbage, all the sausages and apples onto a serving platter.
  16. Accompany with mustard and horseradish.

I would like to try this, but not with so many different sausages! I love the combination of apples and cabbage with sausage. The mustard and horseradish will give the dish a nice kick. Great idea. Thank you!


It's a sausage extravaganza! I'd have to make a double-batch; one for my husband, and one for the rest of the family. It's a good thing we live on the other side of the country...my husband would leave me for you and your sausagey-deliciousness! *wink*
