Ingredients

How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 400 F. In a large bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ground cloves, ground ginger and walnuts. In another bowl combine the apple butter, oil, milk, and eggs and mix well. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and combine just until moistened.
  • Spoon batter into 12 greased muffin cups and bake at 400 degrees F. for 18-22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool in pan for 4-5 minutes then remove to a rack to cool.

  • Mel's notes: I put in 1/2 tsp of cloves that wasn't originally in the recipe and and left out the walnuts

I made these this morning but I substituted half of the oil and apple butter for chunky apple sauce. I also used half self rising and half whole wheat flour. Used light cream butter and did not add the nuts. These were absolutely amazing! Spread some apple butter on it and they were to die for! I'll be adding pictures ;)

I made these tonight. they are so good. I dont like nuts so before I baked it I put little balls of butter on top and then sprinkled with brown sugar and it gave them some crunch. Also I put a little dish of water on the bottom rack while baking it makes them moist.

These are so tasty... I agree I don't like walnuts but I LOVE cloves... I tossed those in and doubled the ginger too (I'm such a spice freak LOL).
