Ingredients

How to make it

  • On each side of the rib slab, rub one clove of garlic (that has been halved),
  • and press pepper and salt into the meat and drizzle with soy sauce
  • Cut ribs into 3-5 bone pieces and place in a large pot
  • add chopped onion and garlic pieces to the pot
  • Cover with water, bring to a boil
  • Let simmer, uncovered, for 1 hours
  • Remove from heat, cover, let stand 3-5 hours in the water marinade.
  • Heat oven to 300
  • Drain ribs on paper towels, discard the onion and garlic
  • Transfer ribs to a baking pan and coat with bar-b-que sauce
  • Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour
  • *After 40 minutes of cooking in the oven I add more sauce and re-cover the ribs.
  • The meat literally falls right off the bone.

After enjoying these pork ribs last weekend I tried the same cooking technique on a thick piece of beef round steak to see if it would work. It didn't come out quite as tender as the pork ribs but was very good. Tonight we made french dip sandwiches with the leftovers. I reduced the marinade down to about 2 cups and it made great au jus broth, no need to add a thing.

Excellent cooking technique! I made these ribs tonight and my wife and daughter both said, "Oh My God!" when they took a bite. I even cheated and only marinated for about a half hour between simmering and baking because I forgot to plan ahead. Next time I'll give them all afternoon, but oh man, if these ribs were any better they'd be dangerous!

Wow! These are super fall-off-the-bone tender and delicious! I loved this method of cooking ribs. Husband was skeptical when I told him how I had made them but he loved them as well! Of course he suggested that I should make them when he's off work and instead of baking them the last hour he could grill them, which is a great idea! Thanks so much for another great recipe!!

I could just kiss you sloppily with barbecue laced lips. Great recipe. I didn't throw the hot marinade out. Made it into gravy, onions and all.

Made a picture but I have to rest a while first until the belly swell goes down.

Picture is one rib, mashed potatoes with hot marinade gravy, and extra bbq sauce for dipping.
See: Oh My God Ribs for more.

I just made these- delicious! We weren't patient enough to let the ribs sit for 3-5 hours, so I boiled them, and then baked right away. I followed all other instructions, but added 1/2 cup beer and 1/2 cup brown sugar to water. I'm sure if I let them sit longer, they will be oh so tender, but were adequate without waiting also. Will be using this recipe again. Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ- THE SAUCE IS THE BOSS- if you can find it in your area!

Wow this is crazy. Boil in a hot marinade AND bake with sauce? I'm there! I do a lot of things with ribs, but this is a classic masterpiece.
