TEXAS TWIST CORNBREAD DRESSING

- 1/2pound chorizo shopping list
- 1/4 cup olive oil or butter shopping list
- 2 cups EACH diced onion and celery shopping list
- 1 Tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning shopping list
- 1 teaspoon EACH salt and sugar shopping list
- 3 cups chicken broth... can use canned shopping list
- 1 8 oz bag corn bread for stuffing ... not stovetop! shopping list
- 4 cups stale bread, tear into small pieces.. or buy bread cubes shopping list
- 4 eggs shopping list
- 1 dozen cooked tamales sliced (that's the Texas Twist) shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oven to 325f
- Fry chorizo in large skillet...breaking up as it cooks
- Add the celery and onions
- Stir for 2 minutes
- Add poultry seasoning, salt, sugar and chicken broth.
- Mix well
- cover and reduce heat until veggies are just tender.. not mushy
- Remove from heat, toss with breads,
- Add the 4 eggs
- Mix well
- Add the tamales last...
- Folding in gently so you don't break them up. Easier if they are cold
- Place in a well greased 9x13 pan or 3 quart bowl.. or stuff bird
- Bake 45 minutes COVERED
- Bake additional 5 min... UNCOVERED
- Diffrent, but good...
