Bacon Bread Recipe

Bacon Bread Recipe
An easy savory bread to serve with your evening meal, I like it hot or cold. You can play around with the seasonings and cheeses to create your own unique flavor combination.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound bacon, fried crisp, drained and crumbled (reserve 1 tablespoon bacon grease for sautéing veggies)
  • ½ cup diced red pepper
  • ½ cup diced onion
  • 3 cloves garlic, sliced very thin or diced finely
  • 3 tubes (7.5 ounces) refrigerated buttermilk or flakey biscuits
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (vary cheese for different tastes – a good smoked cheese, Gruyere, Emmantaler, Fontinella, fresh grated Parmesan, Provolone, etc)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley

Directions
  1. Sauté red pepper, onion and garlic in the reserved bacon grease, until tender (don't over-brown the garlic or it will become bitter).
  2. Cut each biscuit into fourths and place in a large bowl.
  3. Add sautéed veggies, bacon, melted butter, cheese and seasoning; toss until biscuits are well coated.
  4. Place biscuits in sprayed 10 inch tube pan (Bundt pan).
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
  6. Immediately invert pan onto a large serving platter.
  7. Serve immediately, though leftovers are good cold.

I'm totally making this for work tomorrow!!! Thanks for being my inspiration :)

Oh yum, Krumkake! Think I'll whip some up to go with dinner tonight. :-) Thanks!

I was a bakin bread just the other day.

Oh my this sounds so good would be good with a nice bowl of cream of tomato soup.

HUGE hit at work yesterday! Of course I took your advise and played with the ingredients. One thing, I don't think you need garlic salt...garlic powder works fine. I suppose it has everything to do with the quality of bacon used, but I felt it had plenty of salty flavor without adding any. And a note to anyone without a bundt cake pan...an angel food cake pan is NOT a good substitute (the oils leak out the bottom and cause LOTS of smoke. ooops).

This sounds yummy...

This is a fantasic bread. Like the quality of it allot.
