Sawmill Gravy Appalachia

- 1-1/2 tablespoons fried meat grease; ham, sausage, or bacon shopping list
- 3 tablespoons flour shopping list
- 2 tablespoons hot water shopping list
- 1 cup heated milk shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon fine ground black pepper shopping list
How to make it
- Add flour to the melted fat in hot pan and stir to make a brown roux.
- Thin the mixture with a little hot water and add heated milk, salt and pepper.
- Stir until thick. Add crumbled fried sausage for a real treat.
- Serve over hot home made biscuits.
