The Porter Cake

- * 2 sticks of butter shopping list
- * 1 1/2 cups of brown sugar shopping list
- * 1 1/4 cups of Guinness stout shopping list
- * pinch of orange peel shopping list
- * 1 cup sultanas shopping list
- * 1 cup of raisins shopping list
- * 1/2 cup of mixed peel(lemon, clementine, etc.) shopping list
- * 4 cups of flour shopping list
- * 1/2 tsp of baking soda shopping list
- * 2 tsp allspice shopping list
- * 1/2 cup of glace cherries shopping list
- * 3 eggs shopping list
How to make it
- Melt the butter and sugar in a pan with the stout.
- Add the orange and all the fruit except the cherries, boil for 3-4 minutes, now cool till warm, Sift the flour, soda and spice, add this to the fruit mixture, then add the cherries.
- Whip the eggs and gradually add them, mixing well each time.
- Put mixture in a round pan and bake at 350 for 1 1/2 hours.
- ***Let the cake *rest* for 24 hours before cutting into it and serve.***
