These really are for dogs, but we sampled them anyway. Not bad -- they tasted a little like Triscuits -- but I did notice a strong urge to itch behind my ears afterward. Source: Marcia Manderville, Hudson.

Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup quick rolled oats
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup white flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3/4 cup powdered milk
  • 1/4 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon chicken or beef bouillon granules

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, mix all ingredients until well blended.
  3. Roll out on floured board.
  4. Cut out treats with bone-shaped cookie cutter.
  5. Bake 15-20 minutes or until dry.
  6. Makes about 3 dozen.
