Ingredients

2 cups white cornmeal

1 cup buttermilk

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 egg, slightly beaten

1/2 cup finely chopped onion

Directions

Combine all ingredients; mix thoroughly.

Drop by the tablespoonful into hot deep fat. (370 degrees)

Fry a few at a time, until golden brown on all sides.

Drain on paper towels.

Serve hot.

Makes about 2 dozen.
