Saltymikes Dirty Rice

Better than plain rice and easy to prepare.
Ingredients
- 2 cups uncooked (raw) rice shopping list
- 4 cups chicken broth shopping list
- 1½ lb. ground pork sausage (hot seasoned sausage is best) shopping list
- 1½ lb. ground beef shopping list
- 1 medium bell pepper, finely chopped shopping list
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped shopping list
- 5-6 cloves garlic, peeled and minced shopping list
- 4-5 shots Louisiana style hot sauce shopping list
- salt to taste shopping list
- red pepper to taste shopping list
How to make it
- Cook rice in chicken stock: Place rice and stock in large, uncovered pot and bring to a rapid boil. Reduce heat cover pot and simmer until rice is fully cooked. Prepare remaining ingredients while rice cooks.
- Mix ground beef and ground pork sausage, season with salt and red pepper and pan fry the mixture. Add chopped bell pepper, chopped onion and minced garlic to the meat. Continue cooking meat and vegetables until onions are translucent, peppers are tender and the meat is well done.
- When rice is done, add to meat and vegetable mixture and blend well. Serve hot.

Oh yeah...I am a dirty rice freak. Love it, love it....loooOOOooove it. I always put hot ground pork sausage in mine with all the fixings, but I've never used the ground beef/ground pork combo. Sounds good! Thank you for sharing. =)
