We usually prepare this during cold season, or when someone in the family is sick. also good for breakfast or snack. something to warm our stomach with.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup uncooked rice
  • 4-5 cups water or chicken broth
  • 4 pcs chicken
  • 1/2 cup ginger, julienned
  • 1 med onion, minced
  • 2 gloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce (adjust according to taste)
  • pepper
  • toasted garlic, minced (garnish)
  • spring onion, chopped (garnish)

Directions
  1. In a pot, boil chicken until cooked. drain. reserve stock.
  2. pour in the uncooked rice. add water if stock is not enough. bring to a boil.
  3. on a separate saucepan, saute garlic and onion. add chicken and ginger. cook for about 3-5 minutes, then pour into the pot with the rice and broth. stir.
  4. after it boiled, add fish sauce lower heat and continue simmering for about 20 minutes or until rice is cooked. add more broth or fish sauce if necessary. The mixture should have a soupy consistency when fully cooked.
  5. serve with toasted garlic and spring onion on top.
