Lebkucken Honey Cookies

My sweet friend Mrs. Dorthy made these cookies for me. They are very tasty. I asked her for the recipe and thought I better share it! I did a little researchon Lebkucken..they are a traditional German cookie similar to Gingerbread(I think they taste much better) They were invented or created by some monks! Ingredients
- 2 lbs.honey(4 cups) shopping list
- 2 lbs brown sugar shopping list
- 1 lb. butter shopping list
- 4 cups walnuts or almonds,chopped fine shopping list
- 5 eggs shopping list
- 2 tsp all spice shopping list
- 1 tsp cloves shopping list
- 1/2 glass of brandy(hmmm not sure on this one..proubly about 1/2 cup or less) shopping list
- 1 lb. citron-ground fine shopping list
- 4 tsp soda-in a little hot water..when disolved add shopping list
- 12-15 cups of flour shopping list
- Frosting: shopping list
- 4 egg whites shopping list
- 4 cups powdered sugar shopping list
- 4 tbsp orange juice shopping list
How to make it
- In a large saucepan add the honey, brown sugar, and butter. Heat until warm.
- Remove from stovetop and cool.
- Transfer ingredients to a very large bowl.
- Add walnuts or almonds.
- Add eggs, allspice,cloves,citron,brandy, soda and flour.
- Put in fridge for 1 week.
- Roll out on floured board, cut with biscuit cutter or round shape.
- Bake at 350* for 11-12 min.
- Frost cookies while hot.Store in airtight container.
- These store for weeks!

Well, there's no way these aren't a 5 - I'd give them a 10 if I could! What a great picture, too...they look sooooooooooo good!! Could you ship me out a dozen or so, overnight express???

Are you sure about the one week?? Do you think such a delicious recipe with 4 cups of honey and such spices with brown sugar and butter will resist for one week?? I think I will not resist overnight.Great one Michelle.
