Brishole Recipe

Brishole Recipe
This recipe was passed down from my Great GM to my GM to my Mother to me. It's a very traditional Italian dish. It takes time, but it's worth it.

Ingredients
  • Round Steak, cut in 1/2 (strip) and pounded to about 1/2 - 1/4 inch.
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Romano Cheese
  • Chopped Garlic
  • Fresh Chopped Parsley
  • Vegetable or Olive Oil
  • Spaghetti Sauce
  • Optional...fine bread crumbs, you can even use Italian bread crumbs, although I don't use them.
  • Another Option...Oregano or crushed red pepper.

Directions
  1. Trim Round Steak of excess fat. Cut in half so that you have two strips. Pound both strips until fairly flat.
  2. Mix all other ingredients together and sprinkle on top of the meat.
  3. Roll up the Round Steak like a jelly roll and tie with string. We use three pieces of string...one on each side and one in the middle.
  4. Heat Oil in a frying pan.
  5. Brown meat on all sides.
  6. Place meat in simmering Spaghetti Sauce. I've used a Crock Pot and it works well.
  7. Simmer for several hours.
  8. Slice and serve over your favorite type of Spaghetti.
  9. I realize that the ingredients don't have an amount...My family never measures. If you love garlic, then you can go heavy on the garlic...
  10. This is one of those "make it your own" recipes.

I prepare this and my family loves it. I don't measure either because it's all up to someone's personal taste. Great recipe!

It does take time but all good things usually do. I like a lot of garlic with mine!
