Gruyere Parmesan New Potatoes

- 2 pounds tiny new potatoes shopping list
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped white onion shopping list
- 2 tablespoons butter shopping list
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg shopping list
- 1 bay leaf shopping list
- 2 cups milk shopping list
- 1/4 cup gruyere cheese shopping list
- 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese shopping list
How to make it
- Scrub potatoes.
- Cut larger potatoes into quarters.
- Place in steamer basket over boiling water then cover and steam for 15 minutes.
- In medium saucepan cook onion in butter until onion is tender but not brown.
- Add flour and stir until smooth.
- Stir in salt, pepper, cloves, nutmeg and bay leaf.
- Add milk all at once.
- Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly.
- Stir in Gruyere and Parmesan cheeses.
- Heat and stir until cheeses melt then remove from heat and discard bay leaf.

Very tasty delicate dish. The cloves taste is a standout in the sauce. Almost forgot to stir in the cheese. The sauce tastes good without it.
