Gruyere Parmesan New Potatoes Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 pounds tiny new potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped white onion
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup gruyere cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese

Directions
  1. Scrub potatoes.
  2. Cut larger potatoes into quarters.
  3. Place in steamer basket over boiling water then cover and steam for 15 minutes.
  4. In medium saucepan cook onion in butter until onion is tender but not brown.
  5. Add flour and stir until smooth.
  6. Stir in salt, pepper, cloves, nutmeg and bay leaf.
  7. Add milk all at once.
  8. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly.
  9. Stir in Gruyere and Parmesan cheeses.
  10. Heat and stir until cheeses melt then remove from heat and discard bay leaf.

Got this one saved! Sounds yummy.


Very tasty delicate dish. The cloves taste is a standout in the sauce. Almost forgot to stir in the cheese. The sauce tastes good without it.
