Ingredients

How to make it

  • melt butter in a sauce pan over medium heat
  • add onions thyme and season with pepper
  • cover and lower heat to low and cook very slowly till onions are translucent,stirring occasionally,about 20-25 minutes
  • cook unti they are brown and well carmilized
  • add flour to onions and stir until browned( don't burn) scraping bottom for about 5 minutes
  • add water,wine,soy sauce and honey.
  • bring to a boil and reduce heat to a very slow simmer and cook till slightly thickened, about 1 1/2 hours
  • add swiss cheese ,stir until melted and serve with crusty bread

    I love the honey and soy in tis Golden Onion Soup Bob it makes this a real stand out. Being a bread maker I always have fresh bread ready for such a delicious recipe.
