How to make it

  • Fill a medium size pot about 3/4 full of water.
  • Put the sugar in the bottom of a 1 gallon pitcher.
  • Heat the water to where tiny little bubbles are starting but not boiling.
  • Pour the water into the pitcher with the sugar, stir to dissolve the sugar then add the tea bags.
  • Put some kind of cover on the pitcher and let this stand for 30 minutes.
  • When the 30 minutes is up carefully remove the tea bags but do not squeeze out any water.
  • Add more water to make 1 gallon.
  • Stir well.
  • Fill a tall glass with ice cubes, pour some tea and enjoy.

Cracker Barrel is the place to go for great iced tea, sweet or unsweet. I get half and half!

I Too Love Sweet Tea. The Sweeter The Better. The Best Place To Get Sweet Tea In Illinois Is At Cracker Barrel. Believe Me I Live In Central Illinois And I Have Done A Lot Of Travling Down South And They Do Make The Best Sweet Tea. Thanks For The Recipe I Will Have To Make My Own Gallon. My Husband Drinks His With No Sugar.
Probably The Healthiest Way To Go,
But I Love My Sweet Tea

Sweet tea love it. Went to see some friends in IL and asked for sweet tea. The server got me some tea alright and first gulp I took...I did not know what to do held it in my mouth for a while and then finally swallowed it. It was horrible. Asked the server again for sweet tea and she gave me a look! Finally my friend mentioned that they do not serve sweet tea. What a disappointment..she moved from Nc to Il. I love it annd the recipe makes me want to make some. Thanks

I live on tea. Some of my friends from up North had never had sweet iced tea until coming to VA. They only had hot tea. Sweet iced tea on a hot summer day is the best.

Awwww, I kill for a glass of this right now. ANother quirky thing about living in IL, the first time I ordered tea here I asked the waitress if the tea was sweetened or unsweetend, she looked at me like I was an idiot. My hubby quickyly explained that they do not serve sweet tea here. And I thought I was the hillybilly, lol. They just don't cook here the way they do down South, I miss it too.
