This is a tasty dessert that looks like you slaved over it for hours, but takes very little effort to make! Great for luncheon parties.

Ingredients
  • 1 to 2 packages lady fingers
  • 3 tablespoons Sherry or orange liqueur
  • 1 cup blackberries, macerated
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 large package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 (2-oz.) package slivered almonds
  • 1 pint fresh raspberries and/or blueberries, or strawberries

Directions
  1. Line a clear medium bowl (or trifle bowl) with separated ladyfingers to cover bottom and insides of bowl.
  2. Gently press fingers together at seams to set.
  3. Sprinkle fingers with sherry or orange liqueur.
  4. Mash blackberries and mix with sugar.
  5. Add to bowl and spread bottom to cover ladyfingers.
  6. In a second bowl, combine instant vanilla pudding mix with 3 cups milk. Stir or mix until pudding is stiff.
  7. Fold in heavy cream until evenly incorporated.
  8. fill bowl with cream pudding and top with berries and almonds.
  9. Cover and chill.
  10. note: You can add more fruit or more layers of lady fingers, fruit etc.
  11. Michele used sugarless instant pudding.
  12. optional: Garnish the very top with a few mint leaves.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm... this looks delicious!!! My sister-in-law makes the absolute "worst" trifle recipe ever to be tasted and my Mother made the best. My Mother passed away in 2004 and I have no idea where her many recipes went to??? Thank you so much for posting this "5" fork recipe because it looks great!!! I remember my Mother used Bird's custard and like yours, "real whipped cream." Huge bonus using the real thing instead of the frozen stuff in a tub!!!
