How to make it

  • Black Chocolate Mousse
  • In a small bowl set over simmering water, or in a double boiler, combine the chocolate, butter and sugar. Stir until the chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth.
  • Stir in Guinness and whisk in the egg yolks
  • Remove from heat
  • In a small bowl, whip the cream ith an electri mixer until soft peaks form
  • Fold the cream into the chocolate mixture
  • With clean medium bowl and beaters, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form
  • Fold whites into the chocolate mixture
  • Fill 8 parfait or wine glasses 3/4 full with the chocolate mixture and refrigerate while preparing the white chocolate mousse.
  • White Chocolate Mousse
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the white chocolate and 1/2 C of the cream
  • Stir until the chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth
  • Remove from heat and let cool, stirring once or twice, for 30 minutes, or until thickened.
  • In a small bowl beat the remaining 1/2 c of cream until stiff peaks form
  • Fold the whipped cream into the white chocolate mixture
  • Spoon the mixture over the top of the chocolate mousses and refrigerate at least 2 hours, but no more than 24 hours.

    A few friends and I get together once a month for a sort of " iron chef" type of night. Last night's theme was "alcohol based". I made this mousse and won hands down. It was superb! Thank you for sharing the recipe. I may have to go buy more guiness just so I can make it again. Although I must say that there is no way that it could have taken me 35 minutes to make it in total. Still an amazing recipe and I will keep forever! :)

    Two things reeled me in. Being an Irisher the Guinness and the Kerrygold I have both of these ingredients. I'm off to buy the rest. Let you know my outcome. I hope it comes out lookin' like the pint. Sounds Wonderful. Heh!
