How to make it

  • Heat the butter in a skillet.
  • Saute the onion and green pepper until onion is transparent.
  • Remove the vegetables from the skillet .
  • Add flour to the skillet and blend well with the remaining butter in the skillet.
  • Add chicken stock and cook until thickened.
  • Add the chicken, mushrooms, sauteed onions and peppers, salt and pepper and heat through .
  • In a small bowl, beat the egg yolks and add the milk.
  • Stir the milk mixture into the chicken mixture.
  • Add the red bell pepper.
  • Stir until blended.
  • Remove from heat and serve over hot biscuits, toast , rice or noodles.
  • (If you like you can add a dash of garlic powder.)

    I was just commenting on a delicious buttermilk biscuit recipe that a friend shared and said how much I missed eating them with my mum's chicken ala king, and up popped your recipe. Divine karma. I've been craving this!

    I whole-heartedly agree -- if you're going to have calories and cholesterol, do it up RIGHT and in this case, making the sauce rich and flavorful w/egg yolks is the way to go! ps: I like a little bell pepper in my chicken ala king too!! :)
