Pickled Red Onions Recipe
Yummy! Great topping for burgers or tacos, I like eating them straight!

Ingredients
  • 1 large red onion, sliced paper thin
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons Splenda
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 5 garlic cloves, cracked
  • bay leaf
  • 1 tbsp black peppercorns

Directions
  1. In a sauce pan, combine the water, vinegar, Splenda, salt, garlic, bay and pepper.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer, cook 5 minutes.
  3. Add the onion and let simmer three minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove from the heat, allow to cool and store in the liquid.

I love these........great with southern vegetables and cornbread.


There is a restuarant in Nashville that serves these with white beans, turnip greens, and cornbread . These onions are delish. I am so happy to get the recipe. A 5 to you.
