How to make it

  • In a 10 inch sauce pan, over medium heat, brown ground beef and onion till brown then drain fat.
  • Return meat mixture to the pan.
  • Mix in the diced tomatoes with their liquid, tomato paste, sugar and water.
  • Simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Set aside.
  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add lasagna noodles, and cook for 5 to 8 minutes (until cooked), drain.
  • Lay noodles flat on paper towels, and blot dry.
  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  • Spray an 8X8X2 inch Pyrex baking dish with Pam.
  • Layer ½ of the lasagna noodles in the bottom of the baking dish (Noodles may have to be trimmed to fit)
  • Next, put ½ the meat sauce mixture then ½ of the mozzarella cheese and ½ of the cheddar cheese over the noodles.
  • Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  • Bake (uncovered) in the oven 30 minutes.
  • After cooking for 15 minutes, sprinkle the dried parsley over cheese.
  • Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
