These are absolutely addicting!! Every get-together that I have served them at people just cannot get enough and always ask for the recipe. You can substitute ground beef or chicken for the pork. Hope you enjoy them like we do!

Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 2 tsp canola oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • dash of chili powder
  • 1 can water chestnuts, chopped
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped very fine
  • 1 bottle (11.75 oz) of KikkomanTonkatsu sauce (Pork cutlet sauce and available at Whole Foods and most grocery stores in the Oriental foods aisle)
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 T sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 pkg wonton wrappers (100)
  • oil, for frying

Directions
  1. In a skillet, brown the port in the 2 tsp canola oil.
  2. Add salt , chili powder, water chestnuts, and onion.
  3. Cook until onions are tender.
  4. Add Tonkatsu sauce, soy sauce, and sugar.
  5. Cook about 5 minutes so flavors blend.
  6. Add beaten egg to mixture and stir.
  7. Remove from heat.
  8. Brush each wonton wrapper with a little water and place 1 tsp of meat mixture in center (no more). Fold over corner to corner to form a triangle and press edges to seal.
  9. Heat oil in a deep fryer or a wok. Fry 4 or 5 wontons at a time, turning once with tongs or a chopstick.
  10. Important: take the wontons out of the hot oil before they look done as they brown quickly.
  11. Drain on paper towels and serve hot or at room temperature.
  12. Makes 100 wontons.

Sounds awesome!!! Was wondering, how long do you usually leave them in the oil? 2-3 minutes? less?
