Ingredients

How to make it

  • Bring milk to a boil
  • Add 1/2 cup butter, gradually stir in grits
  • Cook and stir until thick
  • Remove from heat and add salt & pepper
  • Beat with mixer at high speed until creamy
  • Pour into ungreased casserole 13 x 9 x 2 and allow to set in refrigerator overnight
  • When ready to bake, cut into squares and place like fallen dominoes in greased casserole
  • Pour 1/3 cup melted buttter over squares and sprinkle with grated cheeses
  • Bake at 400 degrees F for 35 minutes.
  • Serves 6

  • Don't substitute grits for oats in a recipe.....it just don't work like that

    I love this and I'm making it for dinner (with grilled fish) this week. Don't laugh! I think fish and grits is a gorgeous combo! Daddy would agree wouldn't he jett? ;)
