Ingredients

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

Generously grease bottom of 9-inch square baking pan

1/2 cup butter or margarine - Melt in saucepan

1 1/2 cups Pillsbury's Best All purpose flour

3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup apple butter****(1 cup applesauce + 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1 teaspoon allspice can be substituted)

1 egg

1/2 cup chopped dates or raisins

Combine all ingredients with butter in saucepan.

Mix well

Pour batter into greased pan

NEXT******

COMBINE ALL THE REMAINING INGREDIENTS IN A MIXING BOWL & SPRINKLE OVER CAKE BATTER***

1/4 cup sugar

1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1/4 cup all purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened

1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions

Bake at 350 degrees for 40 - 45 minutes until top springs back when touched lightly in center.
