Sweetest Bread From Poland

- 8 cups bread flour shopping list
- 5 eggs, large shopping list
- 1/4 lb. butter shopping list
- 1 cup milk shopping list
- 1 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 3 pkgs. dry yeast shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list
- Note: Sometimes I like to add raisins that have been soaked in a small amount of boiling water and a BIG SPLASH of RYE. Really adds to the flavour ;-) shopping list
How to make it
- Dissolve yeast in 4 Tablespoons warm water and 1 teaspoon sugar.
- Melt butter in scalded milk.
- Add sugar, salt and vanilla.
- Stir until dissolved.
- Beat eggs until foamy.
- Stir into cool milk mixture.
- Add yeast.
- Sift flour into milk mixture.
- Knead for 10 minutes.
- Let rise.
- Punch down and let rise again.
- Punch down and form into 2 regular size loaves and 1 small loaf.
- Let rise.
- Beat 1 large egg and 1 Tablespoon water together. When breads are 1/2 risen brush with egg mixture then spread the streusel on top.
- STREUSEL TOPPING:
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup flour
- 1/4 cup butter
- Almond extract to taste
- Combine ingredients.
- Bake bread on center rack of oven at 350 degrees for 28-30 minutes. (The loaves continue to rise when baking)
- ***Use 3 regular sized loaf pans when making.
