Buttermilk Walnut Cake

- 3 cups of all purpose flour sifted shopping list
- 2 cups of sugar shopping list
- 1/2 tsp of baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 tsp of baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 tsp of salt shopping list
- 1 cup of butter, melted and cooled slightly shopping list
- 4 large eggs shopping list
- 1 cup of buttermilk shopping list
- 2 tsp of vanilla extract shopping list
- 3/4 cup of chopped walnuts shopping list
- 3/4 cup of ground walnuts shopping list
- glaze: shopping list
- 1 cup of sifted confectioner's sugar shopping list
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract shopping list
- 1 tbsp of lemon juice shopping list
- 1 tbsp of orange juice shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
- Grease and flour a 9-inch springform pan.
- Mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- Stir well.
- Add the remaining ingredients and beat well.
- Pour into the pan and bake one hour and fifteen minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
- It may take as little as one hour or up to one hour and 30 minutes to cook through.
- Meanwhile, make the glaze which must be applied the minute the cake is removed from the oven.
- To make glaze, mix all the ingredients and stir very well. Pour over hot cake, might even return cake to oven for less than 20 seconds to make sure it absorbs the glaze.
- Serve it warm with ice cream.
- When it is cool completely you can freeze this very well, when double wrapped, first wax paper and then foil.

Lawd, I haven't baked one of these in a long time. It was always a favorite.My grandmother always made double batch so she could make muffins for the kids.
