A favorite throughout the South, chess pie takes its name from the description given by a cook who was asked what kind of pie it was and replied, "It 'jes pie, honey."

I love this pie!! I worked at a resturant name Harry & jeans and the main resturants are in south & north carolina. This is the best pie I have ever eaten!! I don't remember there being cornmeal in their recipe but all the rest sounds the same. I am however gonna try your recipe!! great post!!
