How to make it
- I have access to both Rugosa varieties of roses and beach roses. I like the Rugosa better.
- They kind of taste like cranberry.
- I pick, wash, rub them with a rough towel to dry which gets rid of any yuck, seed them and throw them in the food dehydrator to dry.
- Depending on whether I harvest pre or post frost it usually takes a day or two to dry them to my liking.
- They are an extremely good source of Vitamin C.
- You can use them in a variety of ways while cooking.
- They are most commonly found in tea, soups, stews, pies, breads and jams.
- You must use non-reactive cookware when cooking with rose hips.
