Ingredients
  • 1 6oz. package of "HUSH PUPPY" Mix
  • 2 cups sliced fresh okra (OR) frozen, defrosted
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • Salt and Cayenne pepper, to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Directions
  1. Mix Hush Puppy mix according to package directions.
  2. Add okra, minced onion, salt and cayenne and mix well.
  3. In a skillet heat the oil and drop the Hush Puppy mixture
  4. 1 Tbsp. at a time, frying like pancakes until golden brown.
  5. Drain on paper towels.

What is hush puppy mix?


I have been looking for a good fried okra recipe. I can never find one where the batter will stick properly. They usually fall apart. This one sounds perfect! Can't wait to try it!
