Maryland Deviled Crabcakes Recipe
This is a little different twist on a traditional MD crabcake. Kind of combines the flavors of deviled crab and crabcakes into one sumptuous, delectable crab delight.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c. half and half
  • 1/2 c. mayonnaise
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1 1/2 t. dry mustard
  • 2 t. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 t. fresh lemon juice
  • Tabasco sauce to taste (be generous!)
  • 2 green onions, minced
  • 1/2 small red bell pepper, seeded and minced
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 1 pound fresh MD, VA, LA or TX lump crabmeat
  • 1 c. fine dry bread crumbs (divided use)
  • 1 T. butter, melted
  • 1/4 c. peanut oil
  • 2 T. butter

Directions
  1. In a bowl, whisk together the half-and-half, mayo and egg white until well-blended. Add the dry mustard, Worcestershire, lemon juice, Tabasco, green ions, bell pepper and salt; stir until well-blended. GENTLY fold in the crabmeat and 1/2 c. of the bread crumbs until well blended.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the remaining bread crumbs with the melted butter and mix well.
  3. Divide crab mixture into 8 equal portions and shape into patties. Coat each in the breadcrumb and butter mixture and coat lightly.
  4. Fry crabcakes in oil and butter and brown on both sides. Serve immediately.
